Star Gazing ~ Eridan x Reader

“Why did I even bring this?” you angrily question yourself while staring at the only pair of pajamas you brought; the totoro onesie. Of fucking course. You, John, Jade, Rose, Jade, and Dave had gone on a sorta camping trip with the trolls. It seemed pretty odd that you’d all go camping, considering the world falling apart around you all, but Aradia said she found a descent spot in a valley with a lake. She convinced Karkat to let you all go just to relax and have fun, which seems impossible now, but after she fixed the place up; attaching a rope swing on the side of a mountain over a lake, building some huts and beds to spend the night in, and a campire, going camping had became the most amazing thing you had done in your entire life!

Yo had all gone there, and you all had something you wanted to do! You joined everyone in there activities, not knowing what you wanted to do yourself, and it turned out to be a great experience. Within the first day you had already explored the camp territory with Aradia and you found a pirate ship just off to the side of the lake and you and Vriska pretended to be pirates in it! But one thing you were really looking forward to doing was just fucking shit up and swimming with Feferi and Eridan. You hadn’t swam in a long time and it was one of your favorite thing to do. Feferi didn’t seem to want to swim a whole lot, she mostly played with you and Sollux on land, so it was just you and your moirail, Eridan.

You and Eridan were very close. He was one of your best friends.. or you were his moirail as mentioned earlier. You were there for him when he felt unwanted and vise versa. You did have a crush on him or as the trolls put it, you felt red for him, but you never really though about it too much. A lot of the other trolls, even the other kids, thought your moirailship with Eridan was sort of strange, and you knew why. You had the same kind of unspoken language that siblings had where you both just looked at each other and knew what you both were ‘talking’ about with out words needed and you were the only one who wasn’t disturbed by “March Eridan”. Cause either way, you couldn’t give a damn, you would still love him.

After swimming with him for hours you both literally attacked each other with towels like they were Gamzee’s clubs. He dried really quickly after getting out of the lake, which he told you was a sea dweller adaptation, but it took you a while, even with the help of a hair dryer, you dry. So you tied your hair up in a messy make-shift bun, dried yourself off, and looked for some pajamas or something to wear. And, as mentioned up here ^, you only brought your totoro onesie as pajamas and nothing else. Welp, fuck it.

You unzipped the damned thing and slipped it onto your body and went to lie down when you until you saw Eridan outside the window sat on the edge of the dock looking at the dark Alternian sky, a mysterious light purple glow illuminating his glasses. You went to get up, but was startled by a loud laugh erupting from Terezi, falling out of bed onto the floor in a fit of hysterics. “HAHAHAHAHA! Oh my gog, (y/n) I didn’t know you had a onesie! Ha! you smell like a little wriggler in that thing!” she cackled. You scowled at her but then started to giggle yourself. It was pretty stupid of you to bring that thing considering it was the middle of Alternian summer and you had plenty of Pajamas that consisted of a tank top and shorts. You gave Terezi a light, friendly slap on the back as you stood up, and looked back out the window at Eridan. Terezi calmed herself and panted as she tried to stop laughing. “Welp, you going to bed in that? You’ll boil. You can borrow some of mine if you want..” “Nope, it’s ok.” You answered, still peering out the window. The others were heavy sleepers, and could barely hear Terezi’s laughter. And since Terezi was blind and started to head to bed, She quietly giggled out a “Good night!” to you and you returned it as you snuck out the hut. You started to walk to Eridan, lazily jointing him on the edge of the dock.

He turned to face you, and stifled a giggled. “The totoro onesie? You must be insane to wwear
that thing in the middle of summer (y/n).” He chuckled, you laughed as well at the ridiculous garment. “Hey, (y/n)?” he asked. “Evver seen an Alternian sky in the summer?” He pointed up, and your eyes followed. Up above was a dark purple sky illuminated with bright, sparking stars. You stared in awe, you hadn’t seen stars this beautiful in your entire life. Little spots of bright light twinkled over the lake you swam in earlier, making it hard to tell the distance between still water and sky. “Woah..” the word of excitement left your mouth in a breathy tone. Eridan chuckled, a faint violet blush tickling across his cheeks.

A cool breeze blowing in the air as you both stared at the glowing stars. “They’re really beautiful aren’t they?” He said looking at you, an adorable smile on his face. “Very!” you giggled. He looked up, seemingly scanning the sky for something. His eyes glimmered through his glasses in the starlight as he pointed to a constellation. “You knoww, (y/n), if you look ovver there, you can see aquarius. You knoww, chillin in the sky!” He laughed. You loved it when Eridan tried to be cool. It was cute, and it always made you laugh. You looked where he pointed and saw the rippled of water in the sky like the ones printed across his black shirt. Wait a minute…….

“How can aquarius be in the sky? That zodiac only comes around during January and February.” You asked. Eridan turning to you, a look of stupidity on his face. “Oh, yeah.. I forgot. Zodiacs on Alternia havve shifted dates. Wwhile zodiacs like Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces, come around towards the end and beginning of the year on Earth, they come in the middle of the year during summer over here.” he answered awkwardly. You giggled at his shy fishy face, making blush lightly. You still looked over at where he pointed earlier, gazing at the simple constellation. He smiled as you did, you looked mesmerized by the zodiac in the sky representing him. You yawned and rubbed your eye with he soft, grey sleeve of your onesie.

Continuing to stare at the sky, marveling in the beauty, you felt at peace. You were sat at a dock with the faint sound of rippling waves and crickets as you gazed up at the sky with the one you ‘flush for’ as the trolls put it. Your eyelids eventually became heavy, as you sat in silence with Eridan. He was startled as you flopped back onto the deck, making him almost fall off and into the water. He turned to face you, ready to give you a small punch on there shoulder for almost making him shit himself, but stopped, and smiled. You had fallen asleep.

Eridan scooted back away from the edge of the dock and sat next to you, stroking your bangs out of your face. He smiled at you, you were goddamn adorable when you were sleeping. And with the onesie, he tied as hard as he could not to pick you up and cuddle the shit out of you. After years of being moirails, he had grown to have red feelings for you rather than pale ones. You were kind to him and he was in return to you, you both could relate to each other very well and stuck together through the good times and the bad ones, and both of you felt out of place in the company of the others. He didn’t feel like he could make a move though, he knew you probably did return the feeling of love he had for you, so he just stayed thankful to have you in one of his quadrants. And even when he did try to confess, he just ended up pulling a Mordecai and ruining it.

As he went to wake you up so he could at least walk you back to the girls hut thingy, he saw a small notebook fall out of your pocket…

When you were packing your suitcase you just literally through a bunch of clothes and shit in there without thinking. When you lazily threw the onesie in your case, you couldn’t even fucking remember that you had put a fucking journal in the pocket of that retarded thing. Welp, something you can do know, your asleep, floating through (prospit/derse). “A diary?” Eridan asked himself. he eyed it suspiciously eyed the small book, looked down to see if you were really asleep, and spread a wicked grin across his features and opened it. All the pages were full of random stuff he didn’t expect from you. It seemed to be compliments about everyone in there, showing how she really felt about them. Even the ones that didn’t like her had good things written on a page just for them. He smiled happily as he flipped through the pages trying to find his.

He got to the last page of the book, where he saw his name written in ink with the same sloppy handwriting as the others. But the way she wrote his seemed like song lyrics, rather than the other that seemed like actual journal entries.

Tears welled up in Eridans eyes as he finished. ‘She… lovves me?’ He smiled as he carefully slid the notebook into his pocket and leaned you up and tapped your shoulder in attempt to wake you up. You groaned as your eyes fluttered open. You gasp and face palm after realizing you fell asleep. Good fucking job. “mmm…. Sorry I fell asleep Eri. How long was I out?” You asked sleep dazed. “You don’t have to be sorry, (y/n), You wwere only out for 10 minutes.”  He smiled sweetly at you as you leaned up staring over the glistening water. “So what did you do during the ten minutes I was out?” He smiled and took the notebook out of his pocket and held it up. “I read a book.” He smiled.

You felt your face heat up as you remembered.

“It fell out of my fucking pocket didn’t it?” You said meekly as your glance went to the edge of the dock. “I should probably go… ‘night Eridan..” You Shuffled to your feet and started to walk away. “W- wwait! (y/n)!” Eridan followed after you. You turned to face him but before you can comprehend, he pulled you into a hug. “Don’t go (y/n), I-I lovve you too!. You didn’t havve to hide your feelins, I wwouldn’t reject you.” He confessed into your shoulder. You blushed, those three words you waited so long to hear, have been heard. You wrapped your arms around him, nuzzling  your head into his chest.

He lifted his head up, looking at you. You glanced up as you both locked gazes. Your heads were inches away until he closed the gap as his soft lips met yours. It was a a short, but romantic kiss as you both pulled away for air. You reached a hand up, ruffling the line of purple hair going across his head as he held your hand and walked you back to the girls hut cabin thing. As you walked in he ruffled your hair in return and when you turned he was already Mario Andrettiing it up to the boy’s cabin thing. God damn it.
